We take applications for Apprenticeships the First and Third Monday each month, except for holidays, promptly at 9:00 AM. All applications must be completed at our office, located at 9602 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Suite E, Lanham, MD 20706, and there is certain paperwork that should be brought with you when applying:
Birth Certificate Photo I.D. Social Security Card High School Diploma or GED (preferred not required)
Applicants must pay an application fee of $25, check or money order ONLY, no cash accepted. Applications will be taken on a first come first served basis and limited to 12 applicants per day. All applicants must complete an assessment survey while filing the application. This is the first step to get into the Apprenticeship Program.
The next step is to be interviewed by our Joint Apprenticeship Committee. If you are accepted into the Apprenticeship Program, you will then need to get a physical, stating that you are physically capable of performing the work of an Insulator and a drug test stating that you are drug free.
First year apprentice pay starts at $16.44 an hour. You will receive annual raises of around $3.60. After a five year apprenticeship the current Journeyman rate is $36.53 plus $16.05 in pension and healthcare benefits. The apprenticeship consists of on the job training as well as classroom and hands on training at our facility in Laurel, MD.
